What is a Boiling Water Tap?

Boiling water taps combine domestic hot and cold water with an instant boiling water flow. With the turn of a lever you can have piping hot water - meaning you never need to boil the kettle again!

Are Boiling Water Taps Safe to Use?

Yes - boiling water taps are designed with multiple safety features such as child-safe handles, insulated spouts and automatic shut-off. They’re safer than kettles, which can easily be knocked over.

Do They Actually Reach 100°C?

Most models dispense water just under boiling point (around 98°C) for energy efficiency and safety - but hot enough for tea, coffee and cooking!

Are They Energy Efficient?

Yes. Boiling water taps only heat what you use, making them more efficient than repeatedly boiling a kettle. Insulated tanks also reduce energy loss throughout the day.

Installation Tips

The hot water is stored in a separate tank located in the cupboard under your kitchen sink. They are compact units that pull from your regular water system, heating the water and holding it in the tank until you need it. Don't forget you'll also need a plug socket near by to power the tank and keep it running.

Can I install one myself?
We recommend asking a certified plumber to install your new boiling water tap as there are more connections than a standard tap and each element must be installed correctly for safety and functionality.

Why do boiling water taps have filters?

Boiling water taps are fitted with specialist filters that remove limescale, chlorine, impurities and even unpleasant tastes or odours from your water. This not only ensures cleaner, better-tasting water but also protects the tap’s internal components, keeping your system running efficiently.

How often should I change the filter?
We recommend replacing your boiling water tap filter every 6 months. A clogged or expired filter can reduce water flow, affect taste and lead to limescale build-up inside the tank.

The Vellamo Aura 4-in-1 boiling water tap only launched late last year, but it’s already our most popular boiling water tap out of the new range! The knurled detailing and D-shaped spout make it a real standout in terms of design, but it’s the functionality that really sells it. Because of its 4-in-1 design, it dispenses boiling, filtered cold and regular hot and cold water, all from one tap.

It frees up worktop space by removing the need for a kettle or separate filter tap, which is a big win in busy kitchens. The boiler is compact but powerful, with adjustable temps from 45–98°C, and it’s got a smart display with filter change alerts. Plus, the safety lock on the boiling water side is a great reassurance for families. It’s a good mix of luxury, practicality and energy-saving benefits and our existing customers clearly love it already.

What is a Filtered Water Tap?

Filter water taps deliver clean, great-tasting cold water straight from your tap - removing impurities and unwanted odours. It’s a simple and stylish alternative to bottled water or filter jugs, giving you instant access to purified water at home.

Is Filtered Water Better Than Tap Water?

Many people worry about contaminants like chlorine by-products - such as trihalomethanes (THMs) - in their tap water. Filtered taps offer a safer way to drink, removing substances like lead, copper and aluminium while retaining essential minerals your body needs.

How Do Filter Taps Work?

Most filtered taps use an activated carbon filter to improve the taste of your mains water by removing common impurities. These filters effectively reduce organic pollutants, herbicides and even traces of pesticides that may enter the water supply.

Can I Upgrade my Current Tap?

Absolutely! Our Complete Water Filter Kit provides all you need to change your existing standard tap into a water filter tap. The small filter sits under your sink out of sight and connects to your existing water supply to make the magic happen!

Will I Need to Change the Filter?

Once you have the filter installed, we recommend that you replace every six months to ensure you get the best tasting water you can.
